I pitched TrapTap, my startup, on Canada’s Dragons’ Den. It was a wireless, hands-free driving assistant designed to help people avoid speeding tickets and stay focused on the road. Before the show, I launched one of the most successful Canadian Kickstarter campaigns at the time, raising over $400,000 from more than 7,000 backers in over 50 countries.

During the pitch, I brought the branding, traction, and a working product. Three Dragons offered to invest. I accepted one deal for $500,000. I came in with conviction and left with momentum.

That moment gave TrapTap national exposure, drove a surge in traffic, and unlocked media features, retail partnerships, and international growth. It became a launchpad. Not just for the business, but for everything I’ve built since.

About TrapTap

TrapTap is this super simple, wireless button you stick on your dashboard. That’s it. No wires, no screen, no nonsense. It lights up to warn you about speed traps, red light cameras, and school zones—before you get nailed. Blue means speed trap, red for red light camera, green for school zone. It connects to your phone via Bluetooth, and the real power? It’s crowd-sourced. So if you double tap the button, it marks a speed trap for other users instantly.

I built it because I was sick of getting tickets, and I didn’t want some clunky radar detector or janky app draining my phone. TrapTap doesn’t beep at you, doesn’t distract you—it just works. It’s discreet, it’s legal, and it makes you drive smarter. We crowdfunded over a million dollars, shipped globally, and it turned into this weird cult favorite with drivers who wanted protection without overcomplicating their dash.
